Aniko Fenyvesi
After receiving a BFA in Film from the Emily Carr Institute of Art and Design, Aniko's first documentary My Grandfather's Garden screened at several festivals, including the Vancouver International Film Festival and the American Society on Aging's Media Festival. Following this, Aniko produced and directed interactive videos for choreographer Katherine Labelle's live dance production, Becoming Sophia. She also co-produced with visual artist Kevin Schmidt, Long Beach Led Zep, a performance art video, which was purchased by the National Gallery of Canada for their permanent collection.
Aniko lives in Budapest, Hungary where she has worked as a writer for the European Roma Rights Centre, the Budapest Business Journal, Where Magazine, the Soros Foundation and the European Commission. She also creates visual collages assembled from vintage film footage and experimental films, which are projected at live music and dj events. Her experimental short, Critical Mass screened at the Artpool annual exhibition and at independent galleries throughout Budapest.
Aniko recently received a grant from the Canada Council for the Arts to develop an experimental documentary set in the turbulent political Hungarian punk rock scene during the last decade of communism.
