Claudia Medina

Claudia Medina
Claudia is a filmmaker, writer, and educator. Much of her filmmaking deals with the stories and influences of her tri national heritage (Mexico, Italy, small town BC) and how they are transposed and mixed into the Canadian cultural landscape.
 
Claudia has also pursued her commitment to social change through her of work as an organizer and educator for such organizations as The Council of Canadians and Canada World Youth. Claudia currently dedicates herself to filmmaking and mentoring youth to tell their own visual stories through her work at Projections and Gulf Islands Film and TV School. She recently mentored a group of Canadian, Palestinian, and Israeli youth to make films in the Creative Peace Network's Peace it Together Program.  Entre el Medio and Finding Llorona are two of Claudia's 35mm dramatic films which have been exhibited nationally and internationally. 

Claudia travelled with Velcrow to Oaxaca, Mexico during the height of the people's revolution, the World Social Forum in Nairobi, Kenya; Robben Island, Durban, & Johonnesberg, South Africa; India to the Gandhia Ahsram Reconstruction Trust & Hyderabaad with Leela Kumari & the Dalit Community; Sri Lanka where we stayed with the Sarvoyada Movement hosted by Krishna Aratna; and to New Zealand for the Parihaka Peace Festival.
